End of the week grocery shopping

Learn about The Marketplace

The food bank’s marketplace program offers customers a variety of fresh produce and groceries arranged in a market-style shopping environment.

Located inside Community FoodBank at 1133 San Felipe Road in Hollister, The Marketplace is known as “the place to be” on Friday and Saturday mornings for people who are signed up with the food bank.  After check-in at the front door, our shoppers select a cart and make the rounds, assisted by our friendly volunteer team who is on-hand each week to keep the groceries stocked and the smiles flowing.

A choice experience

Not what you might expect

It’s as far from a handout experience as it gets – and that’s no accident. In 2018, Community FoodBank of San Benito became a California leader by opening the first choice marketplace in the state. Here, people are welcomed into a bright, colorful place with music playing, food videos playing on a large-screen monitor and a crew of enthusiastic, friendly volunteers. But there’s more.

Neighbors helping neighbors

Through partnerships with San Benito County Public Health, First Five of San Benito and others, cooking demonstrations, story time and other activities are frequent occurrences. Regular wellness fairs bring a host of community resources to food bank customers, including annual free flu vaccinations.
